Affirmation & Enumeration (πράγματι / καταρχάς / αφενός…αφετέρου)

The last connector family AFFIRMS and ENUMERATES. πράγματι (“indeed, in fact”) CONFIRMS what was just said, adding weight rather than a new idea - the discourse “yes, that’s right”: «Πράγματι, διάβασε πολύ». καταρχάς (“firstly, to begin with”) opens a LIST, marking the first item of a sequence and signalling that more will follow: «Καταρχάς, δεν τον καταλαβαίνω». αφενός … αφετέρου (“on the one hand … on the other hand”) is a fixed PAIR framing a balanced, two-sided point: «Αφενός είναι ακριβό, αφετέρου είναι σημαντικό» - the two halves come as a SET, so opening with αφενός commits you to a following αφετέρου (leaving it out reads as unfinished). Register: πράγματι neutral-to-formal; καταρχάς neutral; αφενός…αφετέρου distinctly FORMAL / written (in speech the same balance is από τη μία … από την άλλη). Note πράγματι CONFIRMS - it is not a contrast word (that is ωστόσο).
