Relative Clauses with που
The all-purpose relative pronoun is που (“who / which / that”) - it is invariable, never changing for gender, number, or case: ο άνθρωπος που γράφει (“the person who writes”), το σπίτι που αγαπώ (“the house that I love”). Where English picks between who/which/that, Greek uses one word, που, for them all in everyday speech.
The rule
The all-purpose relative pronoun is που (“who / which / that”). It is invariable - it never changes for gender, number, or case: ο άνθρωπος που γράφει (“the person who writes”), το σπίτι που αγαπώ (“the house that I love”), η θάλασσα που βλέπω (“the sea which I see”). Where English chooses among who/which/that, everyday Greek uses the single word που for all three. For the inflected, formal alternative - and the form you must use after a preposition - see The Relative Pronoun ο οποίος.
