Clitic Placement with the Verb
Object clitics attach to the verb and have a fixed position: in a plain statement the clitic comes JUST BEFORE the verb (σε βλέπω = “I see you”), with nothing between them. This is the opposite of the English order “I see you”, where the object follows. The clitic and its verb behave as a single unit.
The rule
In a plain statement the object clitic sits immediately before the verb, with nothing between them: σε βλέπω (“I see you”), μας ακούει (“he hears us”). This is the mirror image of English, where the object follows the verb - never place the clitic after the verb in a statement.
